Where: Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park
In: Superior, AZ, 85173
Dates: August and September 2014
Boyce Thompson visitors have a chance to see professional artist Heather Coen's newest work on canvas and paper, capturing summer scenes of flowers, plants and garden landscapes during her solo show in the on-site gallery.
"Trees from around the world intertwine their branches, hummingbirds and butterflies fly past and jasmine scents the air. Can a plein air artist find a more appropriate place to paint than at Boyce Thompson Arboretum in summer?" said Coen, a painter well-known in Colorado who relocated to Gilbert last year. Heather will be plein air painting for a few sessions during the exhibit .
"It will be hard to choose between the Demonstration Garden, Hummingbird-Butterfly Garden, or the Volcanic cliffs of Magma Ridge. I’ll have my oils, and will bring a set of pastels as well. Coen is a member of the Visual Arts League of Gilbert, Arizona Plein Air Painters and Arizona Arts Guild; Oil Painters of America (also Pastel Society of America); Women Artists of the West and a signature member of both the Pastel Society of Colorado and Plein Air Artists of Colorado. She was honored with "Master Signature" designation by Paint America Association. For more info email firstname.lastname@example.org.
